Miss me?

Pages read: 837
Pages read this week: about 20
Books read: 2
Well I have not blogged in a while and that is a very bad thing...to say the least.  From the last time I blogged I have read two books, Minders by Michele Jaffe and Fire and Ash by Johnathan Mayberry.  Both are fantastic books that you should definitely read when you get the chance.  I am also currently reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot.  Hopefully I will start picking up the pace with my reading and post reviews soon.

Last Day Wrap Up

Pages read (this year): 9,481
Pages read this week: 356
Books read (this year): 28

Well it has come down to the last day of the year and I thought it would be a good idea to do a wrap up.  I have read about 28 books, 9,480 pages,  more than I ever thought I would, pushed myself to read, and have started to learn the interworking's of the literacy world.
Though I only started this blog in June I have learned and taught myself a lot, I even wrote a book for NaNoWriMo.   Over all I thought it was pretty successful.
Next year I hope to learn more about books and the people that make them along with getting to know the people in the book reading community on various social media sites.  I unfortunately did not read all of the books on my reading bucket list for the year, but they will continue on in to next year and hopefully then I will finish them.
I just want to wish every one a happy new year and hope that next year will have more books and more things to blog about
-Em

OH and finished Geektastic edited by Holly Black and Cecil Castellucci 5/5

So I kind of loved this book, it had all of my favorite writers declaring their love for everything nerdy.  It contained 15 short stories with topics ranging from a Klingon Jedi love story to an internal monologue about auditioning with monologues.  Doesn't matter what type of nerd you are, you will find a story that will make you laugh and long to play D&D.

Holidays, books, and finishing out the year

Pages read: 4007
Pages read this week: 1129
Books read: 27
I am really excited for the holidays to start and to kick it off with the Christmas Booktubethon (see older posts if you want for info from this summer) by Ariel Bissett (type in her name on youtube for more info) and some other awesome readers from the internet.  My main goal is to finish up some books that I am currently reading and finish my reading bucket list for 2013, I think I have only 5 books left...but I could be wrong.  Anyway I have read 3 books since last time I blogged and have started 4 since then (oops!)

So the first book is A Midsummer Night's Scream by R.L. Stein 2/5
This book was decent and had an easy plot to follow.  I enjoyed the setting of California and the fact that most of the book mostly takes place on a movie set.  Unfortunately I did not enjoy the characters and how they interacted.  The plot also left a lot to be desired...so..if you don't want to read this book then it is not necessary.

The next book is The Trumpet of the Swan by E.B. White 3/5
A cute book that is a classic growing up and I never read it until this year.  Just as the title says this book is about a swan who had a birth defect that made him unable to make sound.  So with the help with a boy named Sam.  Some how the swan over comes his speech impediment and becomes a successful musician.  This is just a short feel good book that would be good for any age.
And the last book I read was Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan 4.7/5
So I have been wanting to read this book for a while and was not disappointed when I started it this past weekend.  So it is about a boy named Will Grayson and his life up until the point where he meets another boy named Will Grayson.  The book then splits into the two view points of the Will and how there lives intertwine after the moment that they meet.  I don't really want to say more because I know that I will give away plot points, but...I was very happen when I read a reference to one of my favorite bands Neutral Milk Hotel.

Okay I just found out that bout of books is doing another readathon! It will take place January 6th though the 12th.  So click the widget on the side for more info!

I'M BACK!

Pages read: 2878
Pages read this week (actually...this month):
Books read: 24
So you probably saw that I took part in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and I have to say that I got so involved in that, that I kind did not update for a while.  I also did not read all that much (Screams internally).  Today was the first day that I actually got to have a normal day free of writing.  I only read three books the entire month and two of them where for school, so I don't want to review them.
As you have already probably guess the book is Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and...
OHHHHHMMMMZZZZ I loved this book so much! It was awesome! Not only was it a cute read I felt that it might be me when I get to college...A book about a fangirl that grows up and has no clue if she should come back to the real world or stay by her fans, how much better could it get?

It is almost Halloween!!!!

Pages read: 1949
Pages read this week: 529 (It has been two weeks, but still...)
Books read: 21

So Halloween is coming up and have probably guessed by the title of the post that it is my favorite holiday.  The only problem this year is that I have mid-terms the day after Halloween and I feel....as if, well... look at the face of the day for more details.  Blogger is still being weird and I wonder if this will continue.  Maybe I should just get an actual blog with my own website.  So I have been reading a bunch of books that are very dark themed to get me in the mood for Halloween.  Such as A Midsummer Night's Scream by R.L. Stein (still reading), Rags and Bones- New Twists on Timeless tales Edited by Melissa Marr and Tim Pratt (various authors, just finished), My Pet Virus by Shawn Decker (just finished), and Days of Blood and Starlight (still reading...)

Rags and Bones 4.3/5
Loved, Loved, LOVED this collection of short stories.  This book has updated timeless (grim and ghoulish) stories and turned them into a futuristic setting.  I can't really say a lot about it because of the fact that there are so many stories.  This was definitely a mixed book there were many that I loved (Carrie Ryan's, Neil Gaiman's, Holly Black's, and Rick Yancey's just to name a few), and some that were just ok.  Definitely suggest people to read it!

My Pet Virus 4/5
This memoir is by Shawn Decker who was born with Hemophilia but because of improper screening of blood (this was in the 80's) contracted HIV at age 11.  The book covers his life with off beat humor and an interesting insight to how it HIV and AIDs effects more people than we commonly think.  This book was a quick read (took me all of a day) and is just an interesting read.
Face of the day....

Busy life= no posting time

Pages read: 1420
Pages read this week:  IDK (I calculated about 555 pages from the last post so...)
Books read: 18
September is a bit of on insane month to say the least and I have had no time to update anything...I did manage to read a bit despite the craziness.  I finished 2 books, but one was for school (it is only going to count with page total) the other was Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan.  As you can see by the trend that I am having an obsession with his books... I also seem to have acquired 14 books on my side table that I need to read
Boy Meets Boy 4.3/5
This short book is about a boy named Tony and his life after he meets another boy named Noah.  Tony has known that he was gay ever since kindergarten and he has been the leader of a group of friends that support and admire his every step.  The story shows their daily lives and the challenges they face.  Such as Noah being the new kid and falling in love with Tony...to infinite Darlene being both the home coming queen and star quarter back... Joni Tony's best friend from second grade dating the guy that everyone hates...to Tony's other best friend Kyle getting his parents to realize that he is gay and excepting that fact.  This is a wonderful story about friendship and love...And I read it for banned book week.

I'm sorry that I have not been reading!

I finished Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by April Genevieve Tuchloke, and while I was leaving the library found a book called Every Day by David Levithan and devoured it in a day...Shamelessly.  SO...unfortunately I had been a little busy and it has been 10 days since the last time I updated the blog, but that is okay seeing how school seems to take up most of my day. They way I see it is at least I am reading! Oh and R.L. Stein is coming to my local book store!!!!!!! Oh and I am thinking of creating playlists for books that I am reading...What do you think?

Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea 3.6/5
This book is about a girl named Violet whose parents left her and her brother for Europe to further their art carriers.  Violet and her brother live in the old family mansion and are in desperate need of money, so Violet put up an add in town for someone to rent the quest house not expecting anyone to actually answer it.  A few days later a boy named River comes and rents the guest house, Violet and River immediately hit it off and start and interesting relationship.  Where ever River seems to go mysterious events seems to happen….This was a good book but it goes in the category of dark beach reads, so save it for the summer good quick read.

Every day 4.6/5

I loved this book! Some people might not enjoy the whole scenario that A lives in but I do.  So this character that I presume is a boy wakes up every day in a different body sometimes as a boy, sometimes as a girl but always as a person about 16 years old.  This has happened to him since…before he could remember and accepts that fact until he meets Rhiannon and falls in love so he decides to tell her what happens to him every day and a friends starts to evolve.  Evens in the book start to unfurl that leave A wondering if he should leave her and figure out who he is and if there are more people like him… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZjSHv_8dOw (book trailer by random house)
