The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson 4.6/5
This book was an incredible telling of what happened at the Chicago worlds fair in the 1890's, along side the true story of the serial killer H.H. Holmes. In this book there are two stories circulating and revolving around each other but never truly touching. The book starts out with how the World's Fair was picked to be in Chicago and the how builders were chosen. The first few chapters also introduce the mysterious doctor H.H. Holmes who begins to build a small empire within a matter of months. I was immediately drawn into the characters and the plot it was a brilliant book!

The Lord of Opium by Nancy Farmer 3.6/5
This highly anticipated sequel to the House of the Scorpion was amazing and brilliant but this time in a different way. It begins with Matt trying to figure out how he is going to deal with the responsibility of running the warring drug country. While his side of the country, Opium, is under lock a Government Official named Esperanza believes that Opium is the key to saving the dying planet. This sends Matt into a sort of madness to live up to the expectations of others while staying true to himself and not becoming like the man he was cloned after.
